Interstate Falls is best viewed from the Wisconsin side of the river since there are private residences all along Michigan's side. The small Upper Falls is found about halfway along the trail from the parking area to Interstate Falls. As seen in the pictures above, the river varies greatly in the amount of water that flows during the year.

Peterson Falls is named after the Wisconsin land owners that have generously made the waterfall open to the public. A separate trail leads upriver from Interstate Falls to Peterson Falls. It is difficult to capture the full flavor of the falls in a photo since the river is so wide, flowing around an impressive moss covered rock island at the top of the falls.
