Michigan currently has about 115 lighthouses, down from its high of 150.  That is more lighthouses than any other state in the Union.  With over 3,000 miles of shoreline along the great lakes, it is little wonder that so many lighthouses were needed to safely guide ships as they navigated the sometimes treacherous waters along Michigan's coasts.  Enjoy these beacons of safety!

Waterfalls and lighthouses are linked by the natural fascination and love that we have for water. Perhaps that is why so many people seek out both in this water filled state! I have been asked by numerous people to work on photographing Michigan's lighthouses as well as waterfalls. I do get out to these iconic structures as I have the time. Here are some of my favorites!
